What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that is carried out with removable (removable) and transparent alignment splints that are custom printed after a detailed study of the mouth and the patient’s needs.
Like traditional braces, it corrects all kinds of alignment and bites problems: crowding, spacing, malocclusions, crossbite, deep bite, and overbite. Thanks to its transparent color and its shape perfectly coupled to the teeth. Though it is not aesthetically noticeable that they are worn and, being removable. They do not hinder or limit daily actions such as eating or performing daily oral hygiene.
What is Invisalign treatment?
It begins with an individualized assessment of the patient’s needs and a complete orthodontic study. The treatment plan is drawn up, the beginning, evolution, and final result of which can be seen in the click-check or previous diagnostic video. The first correction splint is then printed.
At the next visit, the attachments are placed and the first aligning splint is delivered. Attachments are small composite inserts (material with which dental fillings are made) of the same enamel color that are placed on the teeth whose position needs to be corrected.
The attachments are respectful of the enamel and are easily removed at the end of the treatment.
To guarantee the success of the correction, the patient has to wear the device for about 22 hours a day. Throughout the treatment, the evolution is monitored and the different splints are made. Every 10 to 15 days a new splint is printed.
Finally, retainers are placed to prevent the teeth from returning to their pre-treatment position.
