Types of Invisalign Braces: Which is Best for You?

You have been wanting to wear braces for a long time and you are not willing to sacrifice the aesthetics (and comfort) of your smile with metal braces.

Our most sincere recommendation: Invisalign is your ideal treatment.

Not only will you wear comfortable orthodontics that are imperceptible to ordinary mortals, but you can also take it off to eat whatever you want (without exception) and put it back on to continue correcting your teeth. In addition, you will not suffer the classic discomfort derived from wearing braces: with Invisalign there is no chafing.

Are you already convinced?

Well, it’s time to see what type of Invisalign you may need to correct your malocclusion.

Obviously, it would be impossible to diagnose people without even seeing them, therefore, and although here we are going to describe the different types, it will not be until you go to the clinic and the orthodontist evaluates you when you will be able to know what the type of aligners is that will best correct your problem.

On a first visit to our clinic, we will talk to you so you can tell us about your concerns and your lifestyle. We will take photos and x-rays and based on them and the conversation you have with the doctor, he will recommend the treatment that best suits your orthodontic needs.

We will give you a unique, personalized and closed budget that you can assess together with our payment facilities.

Types of Invisalign

But let’s get to the point, which is what interests us.

What types of Invisalign are there?

Invisalign Express

Perhaps your case is that of someone who has worn orthodontics in the past and whose teeth have moved a little over time. It is what we call relapse; when the teeth return to bad habits.

If they have moved slightly and you want to have the perfect alignment of your smile again, it is normal that the Express package is recommended.

It is a treatment of 7 aligners, plus another 7 extras if you require what in the clinic we know as refinement; a readjustment that takes place after the main phase of treatment has been completed.

This implies that if a weekly change of aligners is made, you will only be with orthodontics for a maximum of 14 weeks.

This treatment option is available for both adults and adolescents, that is, both for mouths with permanent dentition and those that still have erupting teeth or mixed dentition (permanent and baby teeth).

Invisalign Lite

Your treatment will be Lite if your malocclusion is class I (your jaw and maxilla have a correct position; that is, neither your upper teeth are too far forward, nor do your lower teeth bite in front of the upper ones), but you have teeth a little crowded, or on the contrary, a little separated.

In this case, this Invisalign option corresponds to an initial plan of up to 14 aligners, and a refinement that can include a maximum of 14 more splints.

In time, we would talk about a treatment that would not exceed 28 weeks.

Like the Express pack, this type of treatment can also be applied to both adults and adolescents.

Invisalign Comprehensive

If your case is a little more complex and requires more complex dental movements, your treatment will correspond to the Comprehensive Package.

In this case there is no limit of aligners. You will be assigned as many aligners as required to correct your malocclusion to perfection. The same is true of refinement; the orthodontist may request as many splints and refinements he considers to conclude with a good alignment and occlusion of the teeth.

The time of your treatment will be estimated by the doctor on the first visit, but we anticipate that the average duration of orthodontic treatments does not usually exceed 18-24 months.

Although this treatment is aimed at both adults and adolescents, a subtype of treatment within the latter can be highlighted: it is called Invisalign MA (Mandibular Advancement) or mandibular advancement.

The delayed jaw is one of the most common problems among adolescents, for that same reason Invisalign MA is composed of two fins (precision wings) located on the back of the aligners that force the patient to advance the jaw to the correct position.

Invisalign First

Invisalign recently launched a new type of treatment aimed at children called Invisalign First, this treatment has no limit of available aligners and is usually completed in two phases:

  • First phase: it is aimed at correctly developing the shape of the arch and preparing the mouth for a correct eruption of the future permanent dentition.
  • Second phase: when the child reaches adolescent age, Invisalign First becomes a Comprehensive Package and will take care of the correct alignment of the smile, correcting possible crowding or spacing.

What’s right for you?

It is very likely that despite the previous descriptions it has not been clear to you what type of Invisalign could be the one that would solve your dental problem.

And, as we said at the beginning, without the diagnosis by an orthodontist it is impossible to determine the orthodontic needs of your mouth.

Therefore, request a first visit with our specialists, get rid of doubts and start to glimpse your future perfect smile!
